Literary Pilgrimage

  In the summer of 2005, I went on a road trip with my family on a literary pilgrimage and visited the settings of some of my favorite books. This is De Smet, South Dakota, where Laura Ingalls Wilder lived for part of her life.

  This picture is of the Wilder Homestead claim, where Laura lived with AlmanzoWilder after their marriage

  I also visited Plum Creek which was the setting for On the Banks of Plum Creek in the Laura Ingalls Wilder series.

  One of my favorite series of books is the Betsy and Tacy books. They take place in Mankato ,Minnesota. Although the books are mostly fiction, they are still based on the lives of the girls who lived here.
